Message with a ego-bruising lesson learned.

It was all together and running, and then when we tried to move it, the clutch wouldn't engage.

Because I had to relocate the pivot ball to make my concoction of parts work (Z32 trans bolted to RB26 AWD bellhousing, N/A Z32 clutch, RB25 clutch slave cylinder, Z32 pivot ball and clutch fork), I didn't take into consideration the HEIGHT of the pivot ball.

The cause was the thick washer that sits under the pivot ball caused the clutch fork to sit too high, and thus making the clutch fork hit the bellhousing (where the hole is in the bellhousing for the clutch fork), and it would not let the clutch fully engage.

The washer was grinded-on (ground?) to get it out of the way without removing the transmission. That part went ok. The issue was that when I tapped the hole for the pivot ball, I only made it deep enough for the pivot ball to fit with the washer (plus a few threads). Well, once the washer was removed, there still wasn't enough room to tighten the pivot ball all the way down, so the transmission had to come back out. This issue is sorted out now.

That being said, even though I did a large part of the swap, Alamo Autosports in Arlington had finished the swap for me (fabrication of FMIC piping, radiator piping), wiring, and then tuning). I'm pleased with their work, although it has taken FAR LONGER than originally planned, but I wasn't in any hurry to get it done super fast.

So here's a vid I took the other day...it just has a base map, so it's not tuned yet in this vid (so it's not being revved up super high until it's tuned!)

MORE VIDS TO COME SOON!
